The Aural Theory Course is designed to provide students with a scaffolding that is needed to successfully navigate any melodic or harmonic dictation.

The course presents a system for transforming students from seeing aural theory as something mysterious and out of reach to having the confidence to know that it is something they can master.

Who is a good fit for the focus group?

Anyone who can read music, has basic theory knowledge (keys, scales, pitch letter names) but lacks melodic dictation skills. Preferably they are planning to go to college for music in the next 1-2 years.

Time commitment?

Approximately 3-4 hours per week. The focus group will run November 8 - December 17.

Students will watch lectures and work through exercises on their own schedule. There will be a meeting each week for feedback on the course and personalized coaching.
